Most churches in the United Kingdom and Ireland hold carol services in the weeks leading up to Christmas. The service usually consists of hymns about Christmas and readings from the gospels telling the Christmas story. Lots of Candles are lit around the church.
Toft Hill and Etherley Village Carol Service.
The Carol Service for the village is at St Cuthbert’s Church. Traditional and modern carols / Christmas songs form the basis of this service together at least two Bible readings during the service. The church is decorated to celebrate the coming of the birth or our Lord Jesus Christ. Refreshments are served at the end of the service.
